This is the first in a series of freestyle mixes Im preparing for VIVA Radio .. I thought it might be fun to start mixing some of these old records that have been sitting in my crates for years... Mixing them brought back memories of a time when DJ's like me worked the mix and rocked the spots without the aid of computers or ipods... Nuthin but two turntables on this one... enjoy! and more freestyle to come as well.. This episode features classic disco trax mixed for my VIVA radio show, (viva-radio.com - Tuesdays from 3-4pm). It is dedicated to my old DJ partner, Bobby Dee aka "Mr. Continental" who first introduced me to the wheels in the mid 1980's... These were some of his favorite tracks from back in the day.. He passed away in 1993, but for me, I still feel his spirit coming through in all of these trax... I hope everyone enjoys the mix... This is the first in a series of mixes that I will be putting together for VIVA radio in the months ahead.
By popular demand, I recreated one of my old school hip-house / latin house sets for everyone who wants to download to their IPODs or burn onto CD.. I hope you enjoy this one, as it used to tear the roof off in the old days! The Hip-house & Latin house era was popular in NYC as freestyle started to wane. It was a short lived - but great while it lasted.. I hope you groove to it, as mixing those records again was alot of fun for me.. Please note, there are some sound bites I created and an outro for the viva radio listeners.. This one is dedicated to the one and only "I.S. Boys".. I'll also have some freestyle and old school hip hop mixes up in the months ahead.. Enjoy!
